Council Meetings Now On Zoom

The government has changed the existing regulations for councils requiring meetings to be held in person. Broadly speaking, the 2020 Regulations enable local councils to hold remote meetings (including by video and telephone conferencing) for a specified period until May next year. They also remove the requirement to hold an annual meeting

The WSPC has chosen Zoom to be the video and telephone conferencing application. Meetings will be held using Zoom and will be open to the public to join and take part as was for meetings previously held in person.

Meetings will be called as before but the agenda will only be posted on this web site due to the Covid-19 restrictions on outdoor activity. The agenda will include the Zoom meeting ID and password (and possibly the link to the actual meeting) and this will allow members of the public who have the Zoom application to join the meeting, and will present the opportunity for members of the public to speak to the meeting in the time allocated for this (usually the 15 minutes prior to the start of the formal meetin). Further guidelines on the use of Zoom will be posted in the near future. It is not necessary to have a Zoom account or to register and sign in to take part in the Zoom meeting. All that is required is that the user wishing to join a meeting must have downloaded the Zoom application (available for Windows, Mac, Android tablets and smart phones, and iPAD and iPhones).

The first Zoom Council meeting will be the Planning Committee meeting to be held on 5th May 2020 at 2:30 pm.
